The Nashville Chapter of the Recording Academy presents "Death Of The Record Business...Rebirth Of The Music Business"
Presenter: George Massenburg

L to R: Ken Levitan, Bob Ludwig, Linda Edell-Howard, Mark Montgomery, George Massenburg, Steve Albini

Linda on Itunes: "on an Itunes download...the artist shares a little less than 25% of 5 cents with producer"

Steve Albini: "if my band was going to put a song up on the Internet...we would get nothing (if it were free)
which is not that much worse than a penny...and the great advantage to the customer would be that they
wouldn't have to pay a dollar in order for me to get nothing...

George..(to Bob): "...does quality matter in music...Bob do you still master DVDA's...do you do 24/96/ work?
(Bob:) Every record that we do nowadays is done with the idea that there's going to be a dual disk of it in the future. (George:) A dual disk..what ? Redbook and...not DVDa? (Bob:) Redbook and a stereo pcm 24 bit 48k file
and possibly surround... ...but looking less and less likely like it's going to have surround.

(Ken:) "Damien Rice...the first time I heard his music I was blown away"

(Linda..on satellite radio) "Just one comment...as a recording artist, there's a performance right in
sound recordings outside of the United States, so when an artists recording is played on radio in Europe, the artist gets paid in addition to the song writer. And in America...terrestrial radio...no, the artist
doesn't get paid, the songwriter does. Satellite radio no, Internet radio yes."
